Farah, 3 years old, whose body was burned by phosphourus during operation Cast Lead, where Israel attacked the Gaza Strip with phosphorus bombs. Farah survived miraculously as they carved the burning skin off her body. But her mother died due to recurring infections of the wounds, 3 months after the war. Today Farah is cared for by her grandmother.

Kabul is rife with homeless children. 12-year-old Hassan was sent to Kabul from Bamyan Province to work and get money for his family. He ended up sleeping in the sewers.

Sophiana
One year old Sophiana from Haiti was found left on the street and now lives in an orphanage with very limited resources. Here, they take in abandoned children from the streets around Port au Prince. Sophiana is one of the many children affected by poverty in Haiti.
State Hospital in Port au Prince
Jesuelle, along with other premature babies, was sent from MSF hospital to the State Hospital, where they have the right equipment for proper treatment. Jesuelle’s father did not have money to bribe the guard at the entrance of the free of charge State Hospital in Port au Prince. They were immediately sent back to MSF hospital by bus, where Jesuelle died during the transport.
Milounde Bargelais
Only 600 miles from the U.S. is corruption, famine and violent gang culture…everyday. In simple shacks expected mothers are bleeding to death while babies are getting thrown in the streets. In the notorious slums of Cité de Soleil lives heavily pregnant Milounde Bargelais, who is only 16 years old. She shares a 4 by 4 meter room and two beds with 16 other people. Several of the women who live there have fed their children in the shed.
