Like an antique porcelain piece sitting behind the glass doors of an expensive china cabinet, Jane’s Carousel whirls with nostalgia, art and elegance. Encased in a glass pavilion designed by Pritzker Prize winning architect Jean Nouvel, this historic Carousel has attracted thousands to Brooklyn Bridge Park since 2011. Created in 1922 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company it originally resided in Idora Park in Youngstown, Ohio until 1984. That year David Walentas, the developer for Empire Fulton Ferry State Park, and his wife Jane won the Carousel at an auction, starting the passion project of a lifetime. After 27 years of dedicated research and restoration, Jane Walentas revived the old ride, bringing shine to its former glory. Bringing a sense of magic to all riders and spectators, Jane’s Carousel is a landmark that’s built to stand the test of time.
