— a time for rebirth, transformation and fresh starts. It’s why I’m here, now, a full year since I last wrote to you. In the preceding 365-plus days, I’ve had the good fortune to see some other business ventures of mine expand, take off and flourish. And I had to take a break from this space to allow that to happen, however sorry it made me at the time. Though I must say, it feels right to breathe new life back into Precious 7 at the start of this new season, just as the earth is waking up with flowers blooming in the gardens and buds sprouting from the tree branches once more.
I’ve missed making this magazine dearly — from the initial brainstorming sessions to the days-long photoshoots on location, the glamorous nighttime parties and the intimate interviews, Precious 7 has always been a labor of love for me. A project born out of passion, creativity and intuition, we’ve always sought to inspire and educate our readers, allowing them to discover these creative souls — artists, models, musicians, designers, and makers of all stripes — in a way that feels natural, raw and authentic.
I realized that to really do the independent artistic community justice, Precious 7 needed a relaunch. To truly encapsulate everything that I wanted to explore with the magazine, we needed to broaden our scope from exclusively fashion into the lifestyle space where we can give brands
and designers a fuller, more inclusive space that highlights their work, of course, but also where they work.
Going forward, each issue will focus on a single destination where we’ll highlight an emerging designer, the cultural hubs that flourish there, the design trends that started there, the artwork that surrounds it, where to stay and the reasons why we love to travel there.
For the inaugural issue, I knew that destination had to be Miami. It’s a vibrant, dynamic, alive city that I know and love dearly. I’m excited to take you back to December to revisit our favorite Art Basel moments and its lingering impact on Miami, to highlight the reasons why I think the city’s Design District is so incredible, and to introduce you to jewelry designer Soledad Lowe and her showroom Casa Lowe, a place where you can shop, exchange ideas, gain inspiration and just be. Lowe represents the new design edit of Miami, and like the blossoming Design District, she too is a fresh force of inspiration.
