Enter Itay Malkin, expert jeweler, proud father, and paddle boarding enthusiast. He designed the iconic eye-popping black diamond ring that made us all wish we had a Mr.Big of our own. His talents grace the silver and small screens with unique pieces worn by Cameron Diaz in ‘The Other Woman’ and a loyal fan base consisting of rap god Kanye West, fictional fashionista Carrie Bradshaw, and real life style aficionados like Sarah Jessica Parker, Vanessa Williams, Adrien Grenier, and more, adding shine to a star studded fan base.
Itay made his way from Israel to NYC at a young age and began his career as a wholesale jewelry rep. After years in the business he noticed a missing component to the cool golds and steels of this high-end market. “ I saw the potential for some FUN jewelry – jewelry that can be worn on a daily basis or for a black tie event.” And off he went to create a collection of pieces with as much pizzazz and personality as the person wearing them.
What keeps Itay’s clientele happy and growing is inspiration.“ The Itay Malkin Collection is a modern interpretation of classic pieces with a wild twist. The inspirations come from the amazing women that I encounter in the always exciting New York City.”But he doesn’t just stop there. Itay works hard to incorporate his client’s own inspirations as well. “ I design together with the clients to create their dream piece and truly bring their vision to life.” From ethically sourcing rare black diamonds to pretty pink gemstones, he’ll go to great lengths to make the dream a reality.
When asked what drives him as a creator, Itay lights up with response. “ The constant challenge of creating something new.” He’s a dream maker, a wish granter, a jewelry genie. He’s crafting diamonds for the NYC socialites and even has pieces like a $2.5 mil diamond Bugatti key and 2 ct, diamond encrusted chef’s knife to add to his eclectic collection. A marvel in the industry, Itay possesses the rare power of turning wishful thinking into wonderful wearing.
This style has proven successful. His ‘Daytime Diamonds Collection’with Patricia Fields was a hit, providing luxurious ladies fun jewelry pieces to wear during – you guessed it - the day. “ Most of the clients have all the diamonds and jewelry they want but they’re too fancy to wear ALL the time. So we came up with the fun pieces to wear with a t-shirt and jeans.” Aside from the dazzling daytime jewelry divas, he’s created adornments donned by red carpet alums such as Sandra Bullock, Mary Louise Parker and Kanye West.
